The FBI has conducted a major sex trafficking bust, focused on investigating individuals suspected to be involved with child trafficking andhuman trafficking.
“Operation Cross Country” was a two-week nationwide operation conducted in August that resulted in the recovery of 141 adult victims of human trafficking, 84 juvenile victims of sexual exploitation and trafficking in children, and the identification of 37 missing minors.
The FBI's probe consisted of over 391 operations throughout the United States, working with local and state partners.
Unfortunately, such crimes—against both adults and children—are far more common than most people realize. As we did in this operation, the FBI and our partners will continue to find and arrest traffickers, identify and help victims, and raise awareness of the exploitation of our most vulnerable populations."- FBI Director Christopher Wray
